Slightly smoky dessert with buttery sauce, perfect for autumn evenings.
- Apple - 7
- Sugar - 1/3 cup
- Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Lemon Juice - 1 tbs
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Tapioca - 1 tbs
- Rolled Oats - 1/2 cup
- Flour - 1/4 cup
- Butter - 1/4 cup
- Toffee Sauce - 2-3 cup
- Brown Sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Cream - 1/2 cup
Preheat the grill to 180ºC/350ºF. Peel and thinly slice the apples.
Mix apples, granulated sugar, tapioca, lemon juice, apple pie spice, and salt in a large bowl. Place the apple mixture into a pan.
In another bowl combine oats, brown sugar, and flour. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apple mixture, and cover the pan with a foil.
Place the crisp on the grill rack in the center of the grill. Grill for about 45 minutes.
Serve with toffee sauce: combine the brown sugar, butter and cream in a pan. Stir over low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
